Early Years
Calvin has been sitting on a horse since before he could walk. His parents have been breeding, selling and producing horses for over 50 years. Calvin’s mother was the first female to ever win the German Championship in Eventing as well as being Calvin’s role model at home and in equestrian sport. Calvin’s whole family is very supportive throughout his journey.
While still at school, it was clear to Calvin and his family that he would pursue a professional career as an equestrian athlete. After having multiple ponies throughout the early years of his life, he partnered up with his first eventing-championship pony Askaban in 2010. In the years that followed, he won several individual & team gold, silver and bronze medals at European Championships.
Calvin also competed in showjumping with his horse Carvella Z, participating in European Championships for Children(U14) and Juniors (U18) and won a team gold and individual silver medal. He is the first rider to ever compete at European Championships in different disciplines in the same year.
In 2017, he took over the reins of his horse Altair de la cense who has won many titles (German Champion U21), medals at European championships as well as multiple competitions on Senior level.
The Phantom of the Opera has been another addition to his string of horses. Together with him, Calvin stepped up to the highest level of the sport and not only had a completion but also a placement at their first 5* event in Kentucky, USA in 2024. Calvin and Phantom are also part of the long-list for the Paris Olympic Games.
In total Calvin has represented Germany at nine European Championships and won nine medals.
He has worked hard to position himself as a strong contender at the senior level with a complete ambition to be a frequent member of the German team at European and World Championships, as well as working towards LA2028 Olympic Games
